Billplz
Connect Billplz to PayLexer to accept FPX online banking, cards and e-wallets from Malaysian shoppers, in Malaysian ringgit.
Billplz is a Malaysian payment gateway built around FPX online banking, the direct bank payment that a large share of Malaysian shoppers prefer. Alongside FPX, Billplz lets merchants accept cards, e-wallets and DuitNow QR through a single hosted bill page, so bank and card details never touch your website or PayLexer.
- Supported Regions (Merchant Accounts): Malaysia
- Supported Currencies: MYR
This gateway appears in checkout only when the selected currency is MYR.
Supported Features
- Hosted checkout that redirects shoppers to Billplz's secure bill page
- FPX online banking, card payments, e-wallets and DuitNow QR, depending on what is enabled on your Billplz account
- Real-time payment notifications, signed by Billplz and verified by PayLexer
- Payment status checked with Billplz before a shopper is sent to the thank-you page
- Late payments on an older bill still matched to the right order after a retried checkout
- Separate test and live credentials for safe testing
Billplz does not support refunds or subscriptions in PayLexer. Billplz has no way to refund a bill payment automatically, and it cannot re-bill a shopper on a schedule. Only one-time payments are available.

Configuring Billplz
You need an API Secret Key, X Signature Key and Collection ID from Billplz for this integration.
Getting API Credentials
Log in to Billplz
Sign in to your Billplz account. For test credentials, sign in to the Billplz sandbox instead, which is a separate account with its own login and keys.

Copy your API Secret Key and X Signature Key
Go to Settings → Keys & Integration. Copy the API Secret Key and the X Signature Key. Keep both private.

Copy your Collection ID
Go to Billing and open the collection you want payments to go into. Every bill PayLexer creates is filed under this collection. Copy its Collection ID, which is shown on the collection page and in its web address.

Copy the values exactly, with no leading or trailing spaces. The X Signature Key is used to check every notification from Billplz, so a single stray character makes PayLexer reject them.
Adding Credentials to PayLexer
Open PayLexer Dashboard
Log in to your PayLexer dashboard and navigate to Payment Gateways → Billplz.

Enter your credentials
Under the Live tab, paste the API Secret Key, X Signature Key and Collection ID from your live Billplz account. Under the Sandbox tab, paste the same three values from your Billplz sandbox account.

Understanding Live/Production and Sandbox Settings:
| Environment | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Live / Production (Mandatory) | Used for real transactions. Cannot be empty, even when testing. |
| Test / Sandbox (Optional) | Used for testing only. No real money is processed. |
How PayLexer selects credentials:
- Debug/Test mode ON → Test credentials are used
- Debug/Test mode OFF → Live credentials are used
Billplz's sandbox and live systems are entirely separate accounts, and their keys look the same. Sandbox keys work only in the Test fields and live keys only in the Live fields. Mixing them up produces an authentication failure.
Test and save
Click Save to save your configuration and verify your credentials. Click Verify Connection to test the connection.

Verify Connection checks your API Secret Key and Collection ID together and tells you which one is wrong. Your X Signature Key is used only to check notifications from Billplz, so a mistake in it shows up later as orders staying pending rather than as a failed connection test.
Configuring Webhooks (Mandatory)
Webhooks enable real-time payment updates and significantly improve reliability.
Benefits of Webhooks:
- Instant payment status updates
- Automatic refund processing
- Dispute notifications
Billplz is different from most gateways here. PayLexer sends its notification address to Billplz with every bill, so there is no webhook URL to paste into Billplz and no separate webhook secret. Billplz signs every notification with your X Signature Key, and you only need to make sure signing is switched on.
Switch on X Signature
In Billplz, go to Settings → Keys & Integration and make sure X Signature is enabled. Do this in both your sandbox and live accounts.

If X Signature is switched off, Billplz sends notifications without a signature. PayLexer rejects them, so shoppers can pay while their orders stay pending.
Confirm the key in PayLexer
Check that the X Signature Key saved in PayLexer matches the one shown in Billplz. If you ever regenerate the key in Billplz, update it in PayLexer straight away.
Place a test payment
With Debug/Test mode ON, place a small test order and pay it on the Billplz sandbox bill page. Check that the order changes to paid in PayLexer.

Troubleshooting
Best Practices
- Test in sandbox before enabling production, using your Billplz sandbox account with Debug/Test mode ON
- Switch on X Signature in both your sandbox and live Billplz accounts before taking payments
- Use a dedicated Billplz collection for your PayLexer payments, so they are easy to find and reconcile
- Collect the shopper's email address at checkout, as Billplz requires one
- Keep your API Secret Key and X Signature Key private, and update PayLexer straight away if you regenerate either one in Billplz
- Reconcile your PayLexer orders against your Billplz collection periodically
