Configuring MultiSafepay
You need an API Key from MultiSafepay for this integration.
Getting API Credentials
Your MultiSafepay API key is issued per website (site) in the MultiSafepay Control dashboard. The test dashboard and live dashboard each have their own key.
Log in to MultiSafepay Control
Sign in to your MultiSafepay dashboard. For sandbox testing, use the MultiSafepay test dashboard instead.

Go to Websites and add a new website
In the left sidebar under Configuration, click Websites, then click + Add new website.

Complete the details and save
Fill in the website details, then click Save.

Copy the API Key
Copy the API key shown for that website. Use the key from the test dashboard for your PayLexer Test credentials, and the key from the live dashboard for your Live credentials.

Treat your API key like a password. It authenticates payment requests and verifies incoming payment notifications - never share it publicly or commit it to source control.
Adding Credentials to PayLexer
Open PayLexer Dashboard
Log in to your PayLexer dashboard and navigate to Payment Gateways -> MultiSafepay.

Enter your credentials
Paste the API Key you copied from MultiSafepay.

Understanding Live/Production and Sandbox Settings:
| Environment | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Live / Production (Mandatory) | Used for real transactions. Cannot be empty, even when testing. |
| Test / Sandbox (Optional) | Used for testing only. No real money is processed. |
How PayLexer selects credentials:
- Debug/Test mode ON → Test credentials are used
- Debug/Test mode OFF → Live credentials are used
Test and save
Click Save to save your configuration and verify your credentials. Click Verify Connection to test the connection.

Configuring Webhooks (Mandatory)
Webhooks enable real-time payment updates and significantly improve reliability.
Benefits of Webhooks:
- Instant payment status updates
- Automatic refund processing
- Dispute notifications
With MultiSafepay, there is nothing to configure manually. PayLexer automatically registers a secure notification URL with every payment it creates, and your API Key doubles as the signing secret PayLexer uses to verify each notification is genuine.
Add a valid API Key
Confirm your MultiSafepay API Key is saved in PayLexer (see the steps above). No separate webhook secret or webhook URL is required.
Payments confirm automatically
When a shopper completes payment, MultiSafepay notifies PayLexer, which verifies the signature and updates the order to paid, failed, cancelled, or refunded - no action needed on your side.
Because notifications are what move an order to its final status, keeping a valid API Key saved in PayLexer is what makes real-time updates and automatic refunds work.

Troubleshooting
Best Practices
- Test in the sandbox before enabling production - complete a full payment with your Test API key first.
- Keep a valid API Key saved in PayLexer at all times so notifications and refunds keep working.
- Enable only the payment methods and currencies you intend to accept in your MultiSafepay account.
- Store your API key securely and rotate it in both MultiSafepay and PayLexer if you suspect it was exposed.
